Another small milestone in the development cycle! I’ve finished this level, so it’s time for another screenshot. Some units in the base can be bombarded, and that’s what you see here! When it gets hit by a bomb, it starts burning. More hits intensify the fire and after three hits, kaboom! Critical units (the landing pad and launch bay) are invulnerable.

Another thing I changed at the last minute is the toughness of the enemies. Originally, a hit meant a kill. This is boring, though. Even big swarms of enemies are easily defeated, so I had to change this. A hit with a rocket is still an instant kill, but you have to hit an enemy multiple times with cannon fire. Since you always get only a limited amount of rockets, it’s best to save them for the tough guys!
So now I can get started on the next level. This will include a new cannon, some new enemies and a new base unit. I’ll also extend the main menu a bit so I’m not stuck with that when the game is finished.
