Finally some more progress on Sub Commander. Had to tackle a really nasty bug yesterday. Nine times out of ten everything worked fine, and one time out of ten it crashed without warning on startup. Very tricky to find, but of course it turned out to be something quite stupid. But anyway, here’s a new screenshot:

The submarines are finished, so now it’s time to get started on the surface ships! This one is a destroyer dropping depth charges. It can either drop them spread across the entire playing field, spread quite wide apart, or three bombs in rapid succession directly above the player. It takes three torpedo hits to take it down, but perhaps I’ll have to increase that number because it’s not that hard to hit.
Drawing the destroyer took me quite a while. I used some pictures of real warships as reference to get the proportions right. At first it didn’t look like much but I think the result is quite impressive, considering I’m not that experienced as an artist.
